For most people it is hard to imagine a world without the motor car but one hundred years ago people managed without any transport at all apart from perhaps the horse and cart. Without the motor car everything would come to a standstill so even though the credit crunch has affected the sale of cars recently, manufacturers such as BMW realise this is only temporary and are confident that given time their sales will improve as the economy recovers.
